Ion Zoning Systems and Control

Ion Zoning Systems and Control

Ion zoning systems have been designed for control and operation of select models of compatible fan coils, variable speed furnace and other hvac communicating equipment.

Consider the image below for carrier's Ion Infinity zoning system with its various components:

Carrier's Infinity Zoning System

The Ion zoning system can include:
  1. Damper control module
            SYSTXCC4ZC01
            SYSTXCCRRS01
            SYST0101ZP
  1. Ion TM system control
The Ion Zoning System is controlled using duct static pressure measurements. Communicating two-stage gas furnaces that use PWM ECM blower motors do not support static pressure measurement and are, therefore, not compatible with the Ion Zoning System. For these furnaces, use the Observer Zoning System instead.
Not all observer system accessories are compatible with the Ion Zoning system (except for some dampers)
            SYST0101CW
            SYST0101RM
  1. Ion zone sensors
            SYSTXZNSMS01
            SYSTXIIRRS01

  1. Modulating Dampers
            ZDAMPREC, ZDAMPRND, or DAMPSL

You can pair Ion(TM) system control with Ion zoning control to create up to 8 controlled zones. For Zones 5-8, a second damper control module must be applied/connected.

Comparable zoning system is the comfort zone II system or the Trane comfortlink II zoning system.
