HVAC Maintenance (Preventive Maintence) Tools

It is essential to monitor HVAC system performance to ensure maximum efficiency and improve overall energy consumption of these systems.

Smart applications in HVAC, apart from day-to-day operations (like with smart thermostats and sensors, ensure remote monitoring of these systems which is effective and cost saving.

You can use smart maintenance systems like the sensi predict kit from Emerson to proactively analyze HVAC system performance, share vital information via cloud for proactive maintenance.

Important notes:
  1. 10 custom sensors on your HVAC equipment are installed (preferably by a trained HVAC technician)
  2. 24/7/365 diagnostic check of 32 functions and components on your HVAC system
  3. You can receive system-issued alerts with recommended actions when Sensi Predict smart HVAC detects a problem.
  4. It is also compatible with most HVAC thermostats.

If you have various HVAC system, you will need sensi predict on every one of the systems you need to monitor. It is Wi-Fi capable and connects to your home Wi-Fi system in order to send data to sensi cloud.

Compatible with most heating and cooling systems except for geothermal and proprietary/communicating systems. Also consider installing the sensi predict with a qualified tech.

For remote control of temperatures, consider smart thermostats like the 1F95U-42WF and 1F87U-42WF.

Other maintenance tool includes the Mitsubishi PAC-USCMS-MN-1, a good tool to troubleshoot issues with Mitsubishi P-Series and M-Series. See this article on PAC-USCMS-MN-1 to know more.

The JL3KR4 Fieldpeice’s measurement tool kit provides a full system snapshot with parameters easily readable from a mobile app.

The kit consists of 2 pressure probes, 3 pipe clamps in a quick access padded case. It is simple and easy to use. However, the main downside with this kit is that it only relies on the mobile app for measurement. You may have trouble doing measurements if the mobile app has an issue.

To overcome the issue on overreliance on the mobile app, consider the SM480V, a good alternative for the JL3KR4. With this device, one can do measurement analysis via app or analog analysis from the digital display in case the app has an issue.
