Air conditioners display error codes which inform the user on the system problems thus acting as a guide for diagnosis and troubleshooting.
- E0: Indicates a problem with the air conditioner wiring or low inrush current in the outlet
- E1: Indicates there is high pressure on the compressor mostly as a result of failed fans, dirty coils and faulty high-pressure switch.
- E2: There is frosting of the radiator on the indoor unit and it is triggered when freezing has started.
- E3: It is an indication of low pressure on the compressor due to leaks or dirty evaporator
- E4: High temperature protection due to compressor tube overheating.
- E5: Over-current protection mode. It is caused by high line voltage to the unit or unstable supply of low voltage.
- E6: Indicates there is no communication connection between the indoor and outdoor units.
- E7: This is a mode conflict error. There is a contradiction on the modes set on the indoor and outdoor units. Inspect to ensure that the modes match for proper funcionality.
Most errors starting with F may be experienced during cooling and they are as a result of malfunction of sensors.
- F0: Appears when the temperature sensor on the blower is defective and needs to be replaced
- F1: Indicates sensor failure on the evaporator
- F2: Shows condenser sensor malfunction
- F3: Indicates a malfunction on the outdoor unit temperature sensor (Open / short circuit)
- F4: Malfunction on the outdoor unit dicharge tube sensor (Open / short circuit)
- F5: Indicates exhaust sensor malfunction
- F6: Shows capacitor overheatingwhen the fan speed is very low
- F7: Oil leakage within the system
Errors Starting with H occur during heating. These errors occur less frequently.
- H1: Most common of the heating errors which is as result of the unit entering defrost mode.
- H2: Indicates that the electrostatic filter is dirty and needs cleaning or replacement.
- H3: It indicates there is overheating mostly as a result of fan failure and leakage. The system is in compressor overheat protection mode.
- H4: Occurs as a result of system malfunction and can be resolved by restarting the AC. Incase the error does not disappear, the control board may be damaged.
- H5: An indication that the intelligent power module has entered protection mode. It controls under-voltage and over-voltage issues. The outdoor unit PCB has most likely malfunctioned.
- H6: Indicates there is no feedback on the indoor air conditioner fan motor. It may be as a result of fan block
- H7: Indicates a possible malfunction of the compressor.
- H8: It shows the drainage system has too much condensate
- H9: The error appears when there is electric heat breakage
Other error
- L9: Occurs when the unit is operating on power protection mode. This may be as a result of power spike such as by lightning strike.
It is important to note that not all errors need repair or attention from certified technicians. For those that need attention, the technician can be able to do a diagnosis of the system.
