Trane ComfortLink II Zoning system

Trane ComfortLink II HVAC Zoning System

A zoning system sets up zones in a home or business that can be heated or cooled using separate controllers. This is particularly important for multi-level buildings with heating and cooling issues, and can improve comfort and the HVAC system's efficiency.

What are the benefits of zoning your home?
  1. optimize temperature and humidity thereby improving comfort and efficiency
  2. obtain real-time diagnostics through Nexia
  3. oontrol and integrate with a range of smart devices

Trane’s ComfortLink II Zoning system lets you control your system; set a schedule based on your home’s unique temperature patterns, and control it all from wherever life takes you with the exclusive Nexia system. The Nexia system allows you to connect a variety of smart devices. Every ComfortLink II Control comes with remote “climate access,” allowing you to monitor and control your zoning system through any web-enabled device.

ComfortLink II Zoning system includes: Trane ComfortLink II Control (XL1050, XL850 and XL824), wireless and wired zone thermostat/sensors and motorized modulating dampers.

A zone panel such as the ZZONEPNLAC52ZB is used to monitor up to 4 zones whereas the ZZONEEXPAC52ZB Zone Expander expands the maximum number of zones per system to eight. All these work together to provide harmonized comfort in your household.

Trane ComfortLink II Control

It is at the heart of the zoning system and it provides the interface to the system and user comfort. Trane’s ComfortLink II Zoning system lets you set a schedule based on your home’s unique temperature patterns and control it all from wherever life takes you with the exclusive Nexia system. Every ComfortLink II Control comes with remote “climate access”, allowing you to monitor and control your zoning system through any web-enabled device

Wired Zone Thermostats/ Sensors

Temperature data of individual zones is communicated to the Comfortlink Control for temperature adjustment.
The sensors used include; ZZSENSAL400 Remote Indoor Temperature Sensor, ZSENS930 temperature and Humidity Sensor and TZONE940 Wired Touchscreen Thermostat/Zone Sensor.

TZONE940 acts both as a sensor and a thermostat letting you monitor and adjust the temperature in one specific zone. This can further share data with the ComfortLink II thermostat which can act as the master zone control ensuring consistent, even comfort in each zone.

The ZZSENSAL400 Remote Indoor Temperature Sensor monitors temperature within a specific zone, while only allowing temperature adjustments at the Communicating system control. This is ideal for a kid’s room or the hallway. When the sensor indicates the need, heated or cooled air is directed to the necessary zone for unparalleled comfort.

In place of the on-board sensor, the ZSENS930 (ZSENS930AW00MA) wireless temperature and humidity sensor can be used to remotely sense temperature and humidity. This may as well be used to sense and display temperature and humidity on the Nexia smart home portal and mobile app.

Motorized Modulating Dampers

Dampers are valves that regulate airflow inside ducts by allowing air to be redirected to specific areas of the home. All these work together to monitor temperature and humidity with zoning equipment to perfectly match Trane’s variable-speed indoor unit.
