I am trying to determine the correct thermostat solution for a Trane XV20 system that must integrate with Control4, and I have been unable to get a definitive answer after several weeks.
We were advised by one technician that older Trane XL1050 and XL824 thermostats are compatible with Control4, but that they may not be supported on our newer Trane equipment. Our systems are currently specified to use the Trane T-Link thermostat; however, we have been told that T-Link is not currently compatible with Control4.
My questions are:
- Can Trane confirm whether T-Link will be compatible with Control4 in the near future?
- If not, can the older XL1050 or XL824 thermostats be used with these XV20 systems without loss of functionality, efficiency, or risk to the equipment?
- Is there an officially supported Control4-compatible thermostat solution for these systems today?

The installation includes four Trane XV20 systems: one 3-ton system with air handler model 5TAMXD04A, condenser model 5TTV0X36A, and an 8 kW heater; one 2-ton system with air handler model 5TAMXD04A, condenser model 5TTV0X24A, and a 5 kW heater; and two 5-ton systems, each with air handler model 5TAMXD06A, condenser model 5TTV0X60A, and a 10 kW heater.
